The historic UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities seeks to protect the rights of the world’s 600 million people with disabilities. In LCD-SARO countries only Bangladesh and India have ratified the convention. Whereas, Pakistan and Sri Lanka have signed the convention.  To ensure that people with disabilities in Sri Lanka also benefit, LCD started a massive campaign in the country. Rallies, signature campaigns and memoranda to government officials and foreign delegates have been a part and parcel of the effort to ensure the Convention’s speedy ratification. 1,637 letters have been sent to the President in this regard.
